(chapters continue from previous volume 3)

Loveless Volume 4Fourteenth chapter – School has just let out and Yukio sees Soubi but he quickly excuses himself, “something has come up” (the new Zeros). So the three of them leave for battle. The Zeros are super confident in their ability to destroy Soubi. They waste no time in attacking him. He is hit several times by their spell. Soubi is able to injury the sacrifices face (that’s about it thought)

Ritsuka meanwhile, see Yuiko at the school’s entrance. She tells him that Soubi was here but left. Ritsuka is worried now. He feels like Soubi is doing something behind his back, again. He explains to Yuiko that he is going to look for Soubi. Yukio wants to help look also (to get closer to Ritsuka) but he refuses and leaves alone.

Fifteenth chapter – Soubi tries to use the same technique he used on the previous Zeros but it doesn’t work. These Zeros are quick to catch on. Then it dawns on Soubi that he may not win this battle. He wasn’t ordered to win or fight and he is also suffering from his other injures obtained by the first Zeros. In the end, the Zeros destroy Soubi. He can’t move. He calls the other Zeros to get him a cab so he can go home. It’s about this time that Ritsuka is looking and calling Soubi. He finally gets through to Soubi (Soubi forgot to check his caller id before picking it up). Ritsuka can tell by Soubi’s voice that he is not well. The 2 Zeros arrive and they see Ritsuka with Soubi.

Sixteenth chapter – The first Zeros, Yoji and Natsuo, and Ritsuka take Soubi home where he sleeps. The Zeros explain to Ritsuka how he and Soubi are not connected and that the injuries Soubi is getting are caused by his inability to utilize Soubi properly. Ritsuka asks them to teach him how to make use of a fighter unit.

The other Zeros, Koya Sakahami (fighter unit) and Yamato Nakano (sacrifice) return to their sensei Nagisa Sagan. She sees that the sacrifice unit is injured and states that she will replace her if she becomes useless. This upsets the Koya, for her the two of them will be together forever. Yamato can never be replaced.

Seventh chapter – Nagisa goes to Soubi’s sensei, Ritsu Minami and brags how her pairs have just defeated his precious Soubi. He doesn’t believe her and figures she must have cheated, 2-on-1. His Soubi can not be defeated. Well, this greatly displeases Nagisa. She calls on her Zeros to re-challenge Soubi but this time it must be 2-on-2 and they must do this soon.

Ritsuka is learning what it means to be a sacrifice and a fighter unit. The Zeros tell him that he must be clear in his commands to Soubi. If he is confused and unfocused Soubi will get hurt. All Ritsuka has to do is give an order and Soubi will do as he is told (and he likes it this way).

Eighteenth chapter – The Zero, Koya is extremely stressed out about losing Yamato (it’s making her sick). They finally get the word to re-attack Soubi.

Back at Soubi’s, Yoji and Natsuo (first Zeros) asks Ritsuka where his fighter unit, Loveless is. But Koya and Yamato have arrived and they are ready to fight. Yoji and Natsuo offer to take them on but Soubi tells them not to get involve.

Nineteenth chapter - Yoji and Natsuo go out to fight. Koya and Yamato perform a special spell that places Yoji in an absolute restriction. Ritsuka and Soubi go out to checkout all the commotion. Ritsuka is disgusted at what he sees and accepts the challenge to fight Koya and Yamato at 5:00 2-on-2.

Twentieth chapter – Yamato shows up at Ritsuka’s school. They go out for coffee and Yamato talks about her first meeting with Koya. She asks Ritsuka where his name is located on his body. She says her name is located on her boob. This freaks out Ritsuka causing him to spill coffee all over her. She winces.

Twenty-first chapter – Yamato goes to the bathroom to clean up and notices that her name is fading away from her breast. She returns to Ritsuka and he states he knows her secret.

Soubi calls up his sensei (reluctantly) and gets information about the spell the Zeros used last night. He informs Soubi that it is an act of desperation that temporarily breaks the bond between the sacrifice and the fighter unit and an exchange of sacrifices occurs.

Twenty-second chapter – The battle of 2-on-2 begins. Ritsuka instructs Soubi to fight them with a pain spell, in doing so Yamato is quickly brought to her knees. She is no longer a Zero. Koya sees Yamato’s pain and decides it is best if they end the fight. In doing so, they forfeit all rights to fight ever again. Together Yamato and Koya decide they will be two ordinary girls in love. They quit as Nagisa’s Zeros.

While walking home Ritsuka tells Soubi that the Zeros are best friends and it shouldn’t matter if one is no longer useful (he is so young! He doesn’t realize that they are so much more than that to one another). Sacrifices and fighter units can not live separately from one another. Soubi and Seimei were like that, kind of. It seems, according to Soubi, that Seimei had other interest besides Soubi.

Story detour – A Girl Named Osamu

Osamu Kimizuka from Ritsuka’s former school has come to visit. Yuiko see her as an enemy because she gets along with Ritsuka so well. They have secrets and they call each other by their first name. But after she and Osamu spend some time together they both realize they have a common bond, Ritsuka and soon become friends
