Silver Diamond Volume 1: Chapter 2 Golden Thread

in Silver Diamond

This Chapter provides us with background information on Rakan and additional information on Chigusa.

Rakan’s Information

15 years ago a woman with amnesia (Rakan’s mother) lands in a lonely old man’s backyard with her two year old son (Rakan). The old man gladly accepts the 2 of them into his family. For several years the 3 of them live happily together until 2 years ago when Rakan’s mother dies and a year after that his grandfather (the old man) also dies leaving Rakan alone but not without some money which he inherited from his grandfather.

Present Time:

Rakan is abruptly awakened from his sleep by Chigusa who smashes and destroyes his alarm clock (Chigusa thought it was a dangerous creature – easy mistake to make. Alarm clocsk are loud and annoying when you’re trying to sleep). They get up and have breakfast. Chigusa tells Rakan that they both come from the same place which explains why Rakan is able to transform things like a seed into a gun. And because of this rare ability, Chigusa decides to stay close to Rakan because he is a very valuable creature and he looks so much like his Imperial prince.

Chigusa Senroh’s Information

Back in the other world, the bullet that Chigusa shot (which was aimed at the prince) pierces the imperial building (it looks like a flower growing out of a wall). Onlookers comment that they should try removing the bullet or do something to remove the sight from view. A man named Kingen Kinrei appears and orders them not to touch it that it will die off. Then the Imperial prince arrives. The onlookers ask him about Chigusa. He tells them that “the unlucky color of silver is no longer in this world and that the Senroh clan ha[s] died out.” Apparently the Silver Senroh clan aka Sengin were prophesied as bring misfortune (to whom I wonder) which explains why so many of the onlookers detest Chigusa.

After this news is revealed to the onlookers, a few of them state that they saw Chigusa’s body covered in blood and arrows and that he was definitely dead. A few among the crowd turn their attention to Shigeka Narushige (who is among the group of onlookers). They harass him for being a man with a pretty face but it quickly ends when Narushige’s companion, Koh, a talking snake, appears snapping at them and thus sending the harassing men running. Just as Narushige and Koh are about to meet the person who summated them to the Imperial building they are surrounded by a swirl of wind and vanish!

Back to Rakan’s World

Chigusa waits outside Rakan’s school to pick him up. This totally freaks out Rakan, his classmates, and teachers (what’s a grown man doing at a high school? They think it’s a bit suspicious) Rakan goes out front to calm the situation down (the girls are all delighted because they find Chigusa very handsome and a teacher thinks Chigusa is a pervert).

Rakan and Chigusa leave the school and head for home but they stop off at the shops to get Chigusa some new clothes (can’t have him looking like a person from another world – can we?)

Copy of silver-diamondch2When they arrive home they find Narushige standing in the backyard. Narushige is shocked to find the criminal who shot at the prince standing before him) he calls upon Koh who turns into a sword and Chigusa draws out his weapon as well.

Chigusa asks Rakan to bring a twig from the gun tree. Rakan gets the twig and as he is walking toward the two of them the twig breaks and blossoms into a beautiful tree branch with flowers. This twig transformation plus the resemblance of Rakan to their prince shocks both Nirushige and Koh.

Rakan invites everyone inside. Rakan, Chigusa, Nirushige, and Koh sit down for dinner (even with people dropping in from another world you still gotta eat)

The plot increases in chapter 2 (I loved it). What new info will be revealed in chapter 3 Watering? On to the next chapter…
